Living in Bedfordshire, I'm a self-taught woodturner and pen maker.
I started woodturning after open heart surgery forced a change of career and a rethink of my hobbies and pastimes. As my skills developed, I was soon being asked to make pens for people to give as gifts.
Friends and family encouraged me to start selling my pens and, with the support of my wife Gail, I started attending local craft fairs before venturing into online marketplaces.
Alongside my day job, I still find the time to indulge my passion for woodturning and pen making in my small garden workshop. I regularly receive requests for custom made items and my crafts have travelled as far afield as USA, Australia and throughout most of mainland Europe.
I use a few carefully selected manufacturers and suppliers of pen parts & materials to ensure the best quality and value for money. I keep a variety of different styles of pens including fountain pens, ballpoint pens and roller ball pens. Each one is individually hand made using only a lathe and a selection of hand tools - each pen is completely unique and no two can ever be the same.
Each pen is protected by several coats of lacquers and polishes before I apply a final coat of a microcrystalline wax of the type used by such institutions as The British Museum.
Although I specialise in pens, I make other items such as bowls, candlesticks and shaving razor handles.
I keep a variety of wood and materials to hand and my current selection of avilable pens can be seen on this website. However, if you can't see what you're looking for, please get in touch, I'm always happy to discuss custom order requests.
