Some of the types of wood I use are quite rare, some comes from tropical areas, and I'm sometimes asked where I get my timber from. The answer is: I'm careful to use reputable suppliers who use and support sustainable and renewable developments. This means that the timber I buy is sometimes more expensive than some which may be less ethically sourced.
I also use reclaimed timber. For example, I rescued a broken, old mahogany table from a scrap heap and plan to make some pens and razor handles from it.
There are some beautiful timbers around and the photo shows a small selection from my latest delivery of exotic timber. The photo shows some Indian Ebony, Brazilian Rose Tulipwood, Thuya Burr from Australia, African Blackwood and Pink Ivory.
